I met a kindred spirit on the Ginza, an American ex-pat with a keen eye, an appreciation for wabi-sabi, and a love of Leica who’s become a new friend.
John Sypal, and his blog Tokyo Camera Style has caught the attention of like-minded camera nuts, and street photographers globally. He stopped Kristopher and I on the street to chat, as he eyed my well worn M9 “derelict”, with more than 60K+ snaps on the counter, a very brassed housing and all new Leica guts under the hood. While it looks like a decades old relic, this Leica was most-definitely born in the new millennium.
As if I thought John couldn’t be any cooler, I arrived home from my holiday to find a hand done print of this picture and a copy of the mag, Nippon Camera, where John has been serializing his blog posts for the last 3 years. Thanks John, loving your Instagram posts.
